Statement on Philosophy and Teaching

EMDR Instructions strives to present EMDR in a manner which enables new practitioners to master this approach and to integrate this into their practice. We begin in part one to help the clinician understand the basics of EMDR and thus, create a strong foundation to build upon for applications to a myriad of psychological and emotional presentations. In Part 2 we present how to utilize EMDR with more complex disorders, like complex PTSD and dissociation. We feel that EMDR is a tool, albeit a powerful tool, which needs to be mastered by not just understanding EMDR but how to apply this to the complexities of various diagnosis and disorders. We have also developed a course in trauma and dissociation which can be taken before or after EMDR training. We feel taking it before would give one a better foundation for understanding EMDR and to master its use, though. Please see the course information section for pricing options and dates. The trauma and dissociation course will be offered beginning in June of 2022.

Setting Clinicians Up for Success

Furthermore, we stand behind our work in teaching EMDR and complex trauma. We will do whatever is necessary, within reason, to help clinicians to understand and utilize EMDR. Many clinicians have had little experience in treating trauma or utilizing an approach such as EMDR. EMDR can be used for trauma, dissociation, and mood disorders. It is also necessary to state that EMDR can be used for major traumatic experiences such as those which meet criterion A in the DSM V, or less are disturbing problems such as depression or anxiety. Thus, after training has been completed, we will be available to instruct and coach clinicians with any problems in utilizing EMDR. We are not gone after training is over. If more extensive consultation is needed, we can work out an individual program for that if necessary.

Lastly, we feel we have developed many innovative training techniques to help clinicians master EMDR faster and with more efficiency.
